Henk Helmantel makes an artistic and cultural contribution to the churches of Groningen. These churches form a large history book in stone. The Romanesque brick churches date back to the 11th-13th centuries. The Nicolaikerk is a special church. The church grew along with the city. In addition to its Romanesque origins, side aisles and chapels were built in the 15th century, transforming it into a large Formano-Gothic hall church with three aisles. Naturally, this church cannot be missing from Helmantel's oeuvre.
