Henk Helmantel is not only fascinated by Romanesque and Gothic architecture, but also by the everyday objects from that period. He conveys the characteristics of the churches of that time—such as stillness, austerity, simplicity, and sacred tranquility—in his paintings featuring objects from that era. In this way, Henk draws the viewer into the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. This is beautifully done once again in this work, which uses objects from his private collection.
