Sometimes a painting leaves a nasty aftertaste in retrospect. The buyer presented himself as a true enthusiast with a purse that was unfortunately too small. As a fellow enthusiast, I begrudged the buyer the work, only to discover that a few months later it was hanging in a gallery for a top price.
