It was in 1997 that Henk Helmantel had his first exhibition in Taiwan. The profound impression Henk's work made there led the famous Chimei Museum to acquire his works and organize a nearly 13-month-long solo exhibition around Henk Helmantel in 2018/2019, titled: The Beauties of Simplicity. In this work featuring dolls, culture from the East and the West come together. The dolls come from a private collection and are cultural objects likely from the late 19th century. The signature is also in both Dutch and phonetic Chinese characters. All in all, we have here a unique and special work. One of a kind.
