The still life with the ginger jar has a twin copy. One work has a light background and the other a dark one. When asked whether Henk had committed his own plagiarism, a very different answer was given. I had made the work but still wanted to know how a different background would turn out; out of my artistic curiosity, I made another copy. Be that as it may, the work with the ginger jar is a very beautiful piece. It was not for nothing that it was bought by a wealthy businessman and transported to New York.
