Henk Herlmantel usually paints on painter's board, but there are also works painted on linen. A difference not to be underestimated. On panel, Henk can make the light reflect evenly; on linen, the light also falls into the fibers, giving a warmer, diffuse appearance and making the work softer in tone. The work with the pewter jug and eggs shows that Henk also has excellent command of work on linen.
